Rhizome - Prosthetic Knowledge Picks: The Year of the Oculus Rift
The latest in an ongoing series of themed collections of creative projects assembled by Prosthetic Knowledge. This edition brings together projects that make use of the Oculus Rift, a device that has reignited interest in Virtual Reality and provided creative inspiration for hackers and artists alike.

ブルドーザーの改造
手始めに、マービンはオークションに出品されていた小松製作所製D355Aブルドーザーを購入。厚さ1cm以上の鉄板とコンクリートによって外装を補強した。更にビデオカメラとモニターを6台搭載し、密閉された内部からでも外部の様子が分かるようにした。こうして、2ヶ月後の5月末にキルドーザーが完成された。
事件後に調べられたところによると、キルドーザーは内部からも溶接され、外に出られないようになっていた。
暴走と結末
マービンはまず、キルドーザーで隣接するコンクリート工場を破壊し、通報でかけつけたパトカーや停めてあった車を踏み潰しながらコンクリート工場を全壊させた後、更に市街地に向かって進んだ。対処が不可能だと判断した地元の警察は、特殊部隊であるSWATの派遣を要請した。その間にも、警官達の中にいた警察署の署長がキルドーザーに飛び乗ったが、既に溶接されていたため出入り口が見つからず、仕方なく脱出した。
市街地に到着したキルドーザーは、市役所を全壊させ、次にスカイハイニュース社の社屋を破壊し、続いて市長の自宅を粉砕した後、一旦郊外へと出た。その後、再び市街地に取って返し、工具店に突入した後、その倉庫内でラジエターの故障により身動きがとれなくなり、停止した。マービンは、SWATの隊員が周囲を取り囲もうと接近したところで、所持していた拳銃を使い、キルドーザー内部で自殺を遂げた。こうして、キルドーザーの破壊活動は同日中に終息を迎えた。
破壊活動を行っていた間、キルドーザーは警察から無数の拳銃や手榴弾による攻撃を加えられたが、いずれの攻撃にも全く無傷だった。
マービンの遺体搬出には、クレーン・酸素・アセチレン切断バーナーを用いたが、乗車口に到達するまでに12時間かかった。
被害
グランビーの市役所やスカイハイニュース社社屋、コンクリート工場、市長宅、工具店、パトカー等7億円相当の被害がもたらされた。しかし、死傷者はマービンの自殺のみだった。

This is in the direction of how I expect this tech to create a new methodology in photography, “Collaborative Photography”, where authorship is shared and captures are synced. Think of it this way - imagine the group-selfie requiring not one single camera, but several at exactly the same time, with devices communicating to each other sharing their data together to produce the final ‘shot’.
